The Must-Attend Event for Organic Agriculture

It brings together producers, processors, suppliers, and many other stakeholders from the organic sector worldwide. More than 50,000 visitors and approximately 3,000 exhibitors, including Madagascar, participate in this economic event.

Twelve Malagasy Companies in the Spotlight

Twelve Malagasy companies, members of the Malagasy Organic Agriculture Union (Symabio), have mobilized for this international event. The Malagasy delegation also includes representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, led by the Secretary-General of the department, as well as representatives from the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM). Showcasing Malagasy Products

Among the exhibited products, there is a variety of dried fruits, 100% natural fruit juices and purees, as well as spices that have made Madagascar famous in the international market, such as cloves, turmeric, and pink peppercorn. Vanilla, cocoa, essential oils such as Bourbon geranium and ravintsara, as well as moringa and its derivatives, are also presented at this global exhibition of organic food and agriculture in Germany.

The participating Malagasy companies aim to introduce not only the authentic products from the “Grande Île” to the international public but also their expertise and creativity in organic product transformation. The objective is to enhance the visibility of the country’s flagship products in the international market while developing new business partnerships. It is also an opportunity for visitors to discover new organic products and the latest innovations in sustainability and environmental respect. For the EDBM, this global exhibition represents an essential meeting place for networking and discussing collaboration opportunities, including procurement, supply, and investment projects.

Growing Demand

The organic agriculture sector is booming in Madagascar, driven by a growing demand for organic food products in the international market. According to information published by Symabio, over 80,000 hectares of land are dedicated to organic agriculture, involving more than 70,000 certified organic producers across various regions of the island. The revenue generated by the organic sector has increased from 22 million dollars in 2009 to 110 million dollars in 2021, according to the syndicate’s statistics. The volume of exported certified organic products has also followed this upward trend, ranging from 776 tonnes to 5,832 tonnes during the same period.
